Race Discrimination

Race discrimination involves treating someone (an applicant or employee) unfavorably because (s)he is of a certain race or because of personal characteristics associated with race (such as hair texture, skin color, or certain facial features). Under federal and Louisiana state law, it is unlawful to discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race or color in regard to hiring, termination, promotion, compensation, job training, or any other term, condition, or privilege of employment.  These statutes also prohibit employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities, traits, or the performance of individuals of certain racial groups.

If you believe you have been subjected to race discrimination, you may have the right to pursue a legal claim.  To discuss your questions regarding race discrimination, contact New Orleans attorney Christopher Williams at Chris@williamslitigation.com or 504.308.1438.
